Dragon Girls In Evening Gowns Contest!
Hello everyone! Aoi Ryu here! We now have our third entry! :icondragonlaplz: There's still plenty of time to get you entry in, so I do hope to see more! ^^
Evening Gowns - Draw your dragon-girl in an evening gown.
What the picture must have.
1. At least one dragon-girl. She can be one that you have already created or you can create a new one for this contest.
2.The picture must have a dragon-girl wearing an evening gown. They can be pretty, sexy, cute, or funny. It doesn't matter.
My Best AdviceDuring my livestreams, people sometimes ask me for drawing advice.
I'm a horrible teacher, but I think there are a few pieces of advice that
I think will fit any situation, no matter what you're trying to draw. Keep
in mind that I'm not the best artist, and you probably shouldn't listen to
Anyway, here's my ad-libbed top five tips (in no particular order).
I'm not counting this one, because it's been stated over and over. I'm
sure everyone knows by now that practice will make you better.
1: Loose Sketch, Tight Lines
Always sketch something before drawing it. Keep it loose and try not
to make short strokes. The sketch is important because you can make
mistakes and fix them really easily. As a matter of fact, this is where
you WANT to make mistakes. You would rather find and fix a messed
up hand here, instead of when you're almost done.
2: Learn when to give up
If something isn't working in your drawing
OC Feature time!UFF, srsly dudes, it's more than ever now. I cannot remember the last time I just sat down and did something because I felt like it (except from doodling stuff between works), I haven't even played video games in months. It's just get up, work, sleep. Yay. And it will probably keep being like this until summer and then I'll have summer work for 10 weeks. AW WELL, better than having nothing to do at all!
So uuuh instead of ranting about this until I go crazy I though I'd to a OC feature. So I'll just feature OC that I find especially creative, interesting and wonderful. In a random order. I'll do more features later but I'm to lazy to post everything that comes to mind right now. And yeah, don't forget to visit all these artist's galleries. Yup yup. And if you have a really great OC, please link it in a comment in this journal, ok? <3
---! 10 Random Facts - Tagged :p !---I've been tagged by :iconTheHappyLandfill: The aim of this thing is to tell 10 fun facts about my original characters. I don't know if it will interest you though, even if I personally find this kind of stuff pretty fun in general. Always interesting to learn about the genesis of characters, or why the creator made some choices about his/her design.
So let's try it then...
1- I made Valentine's particular build because I wanted to try something really different. "Hey, I always draw girls with nearly perfect silhouettes ( I learned to draw with comic books.) Let's try one with a totally not perfect silhouette." That's fun, cause people tend to not remark it, but outline one of her drawing and fill it with black and you'll understand what I'm talking about. You'll never see her on the cover of a magazine Strangely, it's that characteristic that I find pretty attractive in her.
2- The character was originally
Contest: To Infinity and BeyondDeadline extended to April 14th
1-3-13;; Contest folder is now open for submissions!
Hey there fellow dragon lovers, it's time for another group contest!
This time our theme is...*drumroll*
Choose some existing celestial element (stars, galaxies, planets, nebulas etc) and get creative. Design a dragon that you might find in the vacuum of space. Perhaps black holes are really just hungry dragons, maybe the Crab Nebula is just a view down a space dragon's maw; show us what you've got, your imagination is the limit!
This contest is open to all members of the group, including the admins! Winners will be decided by members vote. All standard group rules still apply. The folder opens for submissions on March 1st and closes March 31st pending any extensions I may give. You may begin making your entry before the folder opens, but your entry must be a new submission (submitted after the posting of this journal)
Prompt no. 7As I will not be here to post this journal, you get it a whole 4 days early! Lucky you!
~TakaraYuuki suggested the prompt for this round!
We've all had them, those moments we'd rather not remember, or that our friends will never let us forget! When was your OC's biggest flop? When did they wish that life had a Rewind button? It's time to immortalise the shame in a moment of epicness for us all to share!
"The Awkward Moment When..."
Deadline: March 16th
Regardless of how many entries we get, the prompts shall continue!
All our previous prompts will be listed here for future reference. If you ever feel lacking in inspiration or something to draw, maybe you'll find something interesting here!

The Greatest Fear
This is important, so please read.
'In 2012, Leukaemia claimed the life of my best friend Taylor. Even though we were both the tender age of 17 at the time of her passing, she is truly the most spectacular person I've ever had the honour to meet. She helped me battle depression and anxiety, and brought out the good in everyone she encountered. Her death devastated all of our peers at school and it is through raising money by shaving my head that I would like to honour her memory.
Please help me make this wish a reality and Leukaemia history.
Your support is much appreciated.
Our school lost a beautiful girl last year, and we want to help defeat Leukaemia.
So, I'm now taking commissions to help raise them money!
My goal is $150. All the money will be then sent to Amanda.
Plus, if I reach that $150 goal, I will also shave my head.
*All commission money must be sent to me via Paypal, then I will forward it to Amanda.*
Writing Tips #4: Passive characters(this is based on an ask I got on my writing blog. I wrote a lot to it, with some links as well, and think it might be useful)
"I have a WIP that is narrated by a character who I don't identify with because she's so boring. Her role is designed to be more passive than assertive, because the plot drives itself, but the result is a character who just takes in everything and though she has emotions about what happens, she herself is very flat. How can I develop a better protagonist who's more involved with the story? How can I make a passive narrator interesting?"
Every character critical to the plot or story needs to be interesting in some aspect. If a character is boring, I would recommend mapping out her fears, insecurities, talents, weaknesses, etc. to get a better perspective on who she is and how she solves things. However, for a plot-driven piece, making the character herself interesting might not completely solve the issue, due to there being heavy emphasis on the plot. The
Rant: 'Your oc looks like this character/oc.'Any of my older watchers realize I haven't ranted in FOREVER?
Stamps to start the topic off, because I'm not the only person who feels this annoying fucking pain:
Here's a rant.
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE COMPARE MY CHARACTERS TO ANOTHER CHARACTER.
I hate it.
Even more-so when I spend a LOT OF TIME making that one character and have even RE-DESIGNED THEM MULTIPLE TIMES before putting them up online to assure they look at least FAIRLY original. In fact, I'm actually not one to go and tell people that their character is a rip off of any of mine. I did it MAYBE once or twice but looking back I kind of regret it.
There's the blatant rip offs, yes, I've seen people blatantly almost COPY popular ocs, and that kind of thing literally infuriates me.
But when two characters have what
ONE OR TWO SIMILAR QUALITIES
it isn't a fucking copy. It isn't.
And honestly this goes for ocs and canon characte
Touch of Pink (+ News!)OMG, Sorry for the inactivity! I completely forgot to check my messages!
For those who submited stuff and got expired, feel free to retry, I will accept them shortly.
Time for a sweet challenge!!!
It can be any type of character. A creature, a human, a chibi, a robot, an alien... anything! BUT there must have a touch a pink somewhere on the design.
One entry per person. It must BE a new drawing.
It can be sketchy.
It must follow the theme.
There MUST have a small description with the character. (name, species, tastes...?)
It can be Valentine's day inspired!
You may submit your entry there: http://charactersheetrealm.deviantart.com/gallery/35879358

Happy New Year + ThanksI want to tell you hello guys for the last time in a journal in this year :iconblazinflizard:
It's really impressive how a year that "was supposed to be our doom" turned out to be on of the best years in my life so far. A looot of things happened this year that made me change the way I think, the things I do, that made me smile again, and that made me look forward into a future in which I see my happiness reflected into x3
I'm really sorry if I couldn't do a New Year's pic or something with all my friend's characters in it, but the truth is that I have way too many friends, and not even a 10000px x10000px pic would make them all fit xD!!
So like it's my tradition since last year, I want to write some words to the people that have been really close to me this year. (notice, this is for the people that have talked to me a loooot this year)
To the people that have tolerated me a lot during this year (going to write it in english because i'm lazy xd):
First of all I want to thank God, for

Just for Fun Winter EventHey guys! :icongrin--plz:
Todays the first day of December so i thought during this month we should do something fun/interesting.
So heres my idea. I thought it would be nice to see your Ocs doing winter activitys such as Drinking cocoa, having snowball fights, picking out a Christmas tree, Giving presents, kissing under mistle toe, ect. Its not a contest its just for fun.
I thought this idea would be fun to see in our group. I hope you bro's do it.
commissions open til i dieHey guys! My studio teacher is giant butthole and threw me a for a loop recently
I was late to class the other because of an advising appointment (which was an important thing and totally not my fault) and she said that if I "totally blew her away" with my final project that I would be excused for the absence. If not, my final grade will go down a few points.
So I'm taking down my commission closing deadline! I'll take as many of these until I die and just get as many done as I can before the project due date, and finish the rest over winter break.
Lets fucking do this.
Commission Prices are HERE, and also check out my TRADE LIST, which is a list of stuff I’m willing to take as payment for art!
Signal boosts are always always appreciated! And accept my most sincere apologies for talking about commissions so much lately.
Character Art Raffle!Hey everyone! I have opened commissions, and to kind of celebrate / promote myself, I'm giving away a piece of art!
The Prize: One free commission from me! You get art of any character of your choosing, be it one of your own original characters or fanart from any show / comic / etc. I will not do nudity / fetish / sexual portrayal. It will be digitally drawn, on a transparent or monochrome background (your choice). You are free to do whatever you want with it - post it to other websites, reupload to your account, whatever you like! I would appreciate credit, but it isn't necessary. I may also throw in a page of sketches, depending on how my workload is at the time the competition ends.
How to enter: Favorite this journal! That's it! You don't even have to be watching me. Just be sure to have a reference of your character ready.
The raffle will end one week from now, so Feb 10th, around 5pm CST.
